Tayberries picture
The tayberry is a hybrid berry, which was developed in Scotland by crossing a specific blackberry and raspberry variety. Tayberries are large, long and conical in shape with a bright deep purple colour. They also have a rich, slightly aromatic flavour and should be treated in the same way asblackberries or raspberries. Tayberries are a good source of Vitamin C, dietary fibre and folic acid.

Tayberries can be substituted for strawberries or blackberries in any dishes made with those ingredients – for example, jams, jellies, tarts, flans, pies and sauces. They can also be eaten raw with cream or mascarpone cheese for example.
